# MCP server records sales only when you allow it

> From @affitor/mcp 0.2.1, the tools that record sales and refunds are off by default. Agents that record sales need AFFITOR_MCP_WRITE=1.

**Action required.** Developers: If an agent records sales or refunds through the Affitor MCP server, add AFFITOR_MCP_WRITE=1 to the server's env.

The Affitor MCP server now keeps money tools off by default. An agent that is only exploring its tools can no longer create a sale or reverse one by accident.

## What changes

With `@affitor/mcp` 0.2.1, an agent sees five tools by default: readiness, lead, click, integration plan and verification. `affitor_track_sale` and `affitor_track_refund` appear only when you turn them on. Every tool now also says whether it reads, writes or cannot be undone, so your agent client can ask before it runs one.

## What to do

If your agent records sales or refunds, turn the tools on in the server's config:

```json tab="MCP config"
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "affitor": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@affitor/mcp"],
      "env": {
        "AFFITOR_API_KEY": "your_program_key",
        "AFFITOR_MCP_WRITE": "1"
      }
    }
  }
}
```

Agents that only read or track leads and clicks need no change. While you try it out, pass `testMode` on a sale: it records a test sale with no commission. See [MCP server](https://affitor.com/docs/api-reference/mcp) for the full setup.
